More about Piedmont United Way

Piedmont United Way is a non-profit organization that serves the counties of Culpeper, Madison, Fauquier, Orange and Rappahannock by developing and distributing resources that address human needs. Each year , Piedmont United Way invests contributions in local partner agencies that provide health and human services to individuals and families in need. In addition, Piedmont United Way makes donor directed designations to non-United Way health and human service programs each year. United Way touches more people that any other organization in the community; it is estimated that one out of every five people in the local five county service area has been helped by United Way funded programs or agencies.

How does Piedmont United Way work?
Piedmont United Way is governed by a local board of directors, made up of members from each of the 5 counties, who ensure that the organization is managed efficiently and effectively. Community volunteers determine how dollars raised should be distributed.

What types of programs do United Way dollars support?
United Way distributes funds to community agencies providing basic services for families, shelters for the homeless, food for the elderly, nursery schools, scouting programs, youth recreation, and an information and referral help phone line.

Piedmont United Way Programs
Piedmont Volunteer Center serves the Piedmont United Way area; actively promoting community volunteering, connecting people who want to volunteer with opportunities to serve, and serving as a resource for community organizations in building effective volunteer programs. If your organization is seeking or presently uses volunteers in accomplishing your mission or if you want to volunteer in your community, contact the Volunteer Center and let us show you the many ways volunteers can make a difference.

Does my contribution stay in the Community?
Money raised for Piedmont United Way remains local and stays to support programs and agencies in Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock counties, unless designated by the donor to any organization out of the area. We bring results to people who live and work right here.

Why should I give to United Way?

When you give to United Way, you connect with others who care. Your gift combines with other gifts to support a network of services and programs dedicated to helping those who need assistance in our community.
